Pretoria East offers a tranquil escape for those that work in the city. The leafy streets and well established gardens give the area a sedate, village-like feel. Everything is close-by and residents don't have to go far for shopping or recreation. It's a popular suburb, largely due to the fact that it's easily accessible from major highways - the N1 and the N4. This neighbourhood attracts a good mixture of young professionals and young families, with kid-friendly activities widely available. There are large, open spaces in this area, allowing for big gardens and freestanding large old homes, However, this area has many modern townhouses, clusters and security estates as well.

The Pretoria East neighbourhood is made up of suburbs like Faerie Glen, Equestria, Boardwalk and Willow Glen. Life functions almost like a village, and the community in this neighbourhood are friendly and helpful. The Boardwalk Lakeside Shopping Centre is a popular entertainment and shopping spot, with the lake forming a tranquil backdrop for an evening meal. The Atterbury Theatre at the Lynwood Bridge is another amazing venue for evening activities. Many restaurants and bars are located next to the City Lodge, for those wanting a more upbeat evening.

Estate living is becoming increasingly popular with many buyers, especially those seeking a secure and family-oriented lifestyle, Pretoria has been growing in popularity among buyers, particularly upcoming professionals and young families. The city offers employment opportunities, allows for relatively easy access to other areas and a wide selection of well-priced properties

Lynnwood is part of a popular group of older suburbs referred to as the "Old East", having been established in the 1960's. The suburb is especially popular with younger buyers due to convenience that it offers. It is close to many schools and the University of Pretoria, Gautrain

Every city has its dividing line. Normally it's south and north of a river or railway line that becomes the distinction between the eligibility of any given suburb. In Pretoria, it's more a case of a line of division between east and west.

East of Pretoria lie a collection of suburbs that include some of the city's more upmarket communities like Waterkloof, Garsfontein, Faerie Glen and Lynnwood. Most of the more elite suburbs lie in a curve that forms a semi-circle around the centre of Pretoria moving out, and, whilst some of these have been abandoned by Pretoria city-dwellers for the more recent security estates that have mushroomed in outlying suburbs, such as Silver Lakes, Garsfontein and Equestria, there is little that beats the beautiful, sedate old homes of Brooklyn, Hatfield and Waterkloof. The market in Pretoria East is currently relatively balanced between supply and demand for both sectional title and freehold property, but it is heading towards an increase in stock levels which may eventually result in a buyers' market

Price ranges that buyers show most interested in range from R800 000 to R2 million, but there is also fair activity in luxurious estates such as Mooikloof, Silver Lakes and Woodhill and areas such as Waterkloof where property is often priced upwards of R20 million.
